<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotational torque detection device capable of precisely and reliably detecting rotational torque, in the rotational torque detection device mainly used in the detection of the rotational torque of a steering of a vehicle or the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Third and fourth magnetic materials 17, 18 disposed opposite a magnet 13 are provided below first and second magnetic materials 15, 16, and a second magnetic detection element 24 is provided therebetween. The magnetism of the magnet is detected by the third and fourth magnetic materials 17, 18, in addition to the first and second magnetic materials 15, 16. Thus, even when breakage such as chipping or cracks are generated in each magnetic material or the magnet 13, a control means 25 can detect the failure thereof from a plurality of changes in magnetism.
