<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle surroundings monitoring device detecting an object which is likely to cause collision at stable detection timing in a range from near to far around a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle surroundings monitoring device includes: a first distance calculating means for calculating a distance between the vehicle and the object from data of one parallax; a second distance calculating means 25 for calculating a distance between the vehicle and the object from a disparity gradient; and a monitoring object detecting means 26 detecting the object which may cause collision by applying an object detection algorithm for a short distance when the distance calculated by the first distance calculating means 24 is a predetermined distance or less, and detecting the object using the distance between the object and the vehicle calculated by the second distance calculating means 25 by applying an object detection algorithm for a long distance when the distance calculated by the first distance calculating means 24 is longer than the predetermined distance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
