<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing diisopropenylbenzene (DST) using di(2-hydroxyisopropyl)benzene (DCA) as a starting material, having an excellent effect of producing highly pure DST using a reactor having high volume efficiency or using a reactor of a smaller volume with a small amount of a catalyst. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method of producing DST includes a process of subjecting DCA to a dehydration reaction using p-toluenesulfonic acid or sulfuric acid as an acid catalyst under the following conditions (i), (ii), and (iii): (i) DCA is subjected to a dehydration reaction in a form of a methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) solution of DCA wherein the concentration of DCA is 20 wt.% or more and lower than 80 wt.%, (ii) the concentration of the acid catalyst contained in the reaction solution to be subjected to the dehydration reaction is 100 to 2,000 weight ppm, and (iii) the dehydration reaction is carried out while distilling off the resulting water and MIBK.
