<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crucible suitable for producing a single crystal of such refractory materials as sapphire and garnet, and a method of using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The crucible 10 includes a crucible supporter or support body 2, and a coating 4 applied on the inner face of the crucible supporter or support body. The melt 7 of a refractory material is contained in the crucible 10. The coating 4 gives a contact face with the melt 7 and has a role to protect the surface of the crucible supporter 2 from the contact with the melt 7. The coating 4 is suitably composed of a metal having a melting point of at least 1,800°C, exemplified by a heat-resistant metal such as indium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
