<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejecting apparatus capable of suppressing a characteristic difference between and among nozzles. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The liquid ejecting apparatus has first and second switchable modes. In the first mode, liquid is ejected from a nozzle in such a manner that an electric field is applied to a piezoelectric element 6 in a polarization direction of a piezoelectric material layer 15 so as to drive the piezoelectric element. In the second mode, liquid is ejected from the nozzle in such a manner that the electric field is applied to the piezoelectric element in a direction opposite to the polarization direction of the piezoelectric material layer so as to drive the piezoelectric element. The control of the ejection is performed by the first mode with respect to a nozzle of which the amount of ink to be ejected is comparatively large or by the second mode with respect to a nozzle of which the amount of ink to be ejected is comparatively small.
