WAVELENGTH CONVERTING LASER DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean a wavelength converting element of dirt with a photocatalyst. SOLUTION: A photocatalyst film is formed on a surface of the wavelength converting element irradiated with fundamental wave light or second harmonic light, and photocatalyst activation light having a different wavelength from those of the fundamental wave light and the second harmonic light is output from a photocatalyst activation light source to irradiate the photocatalyst film through an optical mechanism with the photocatalyst activation light from a direction crossing the optical axes of the fundamental wave light and second harmonic light. The photocatalyst can be activated by sufficient power aside from power as a laser device. The photocatalyst to be activated is not limited to the wavelength of the output light. An optical axis adjusting operation for aligning the optical axis of the output light or fundamental wave light with the optical axis of the photocatalyst activation light is not necessary.
