A torpedo 15 in cylinder 7 is rotatable through shaft 16 to mix plastic material such as polythene and drive means 17 and a plunger 8 controlled by hydraulic piston/cylinder unit 9, 10 is slidable over the shaft to inject the polythene through nozzle 12 into mould 14. A thrust-bearing and seal arrangement 21 is attached to the cylinder 10 to prevent longitudinal movement of the shaft and prevent leakage of fluid from cylinder 10. Heat may be supplied to the interior of the cylinder 7, and Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) depict alternative forms for the flights and grooves on the torpedo. |
