A handle and band assembly for a teapot &c. comprises a flexible band 12 conformable about the pot and the ends of which have an interengaging hook 27 and hole 17, and a handle 14 having a pocket 33 for reception of the end portions 15, 25 of the band, a screw being provided which has a head 30 seated in a recess in the handle and which draws the end portions of the band into the pocket to tighten the band about the teapot and force the handle towards the pot. As shown in Fig. 4 the end portions are bent to enter the pocket and the overlapped portions 25, 15 have, respectively, a tapered aperture 28, through which the screw passes, and a threaded aperture 18 for engagement by the screw. In a modification, shown in Fig. 6, the band is in two parts one part 61 having apertured ends and the other part 65 bridging the ends and having a hole at each end to engage the apertures, a threaded aperture 68 for a clamping screw being provided. |
