<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanate compound chemically modified with a polymer chain. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The titanate compound (A) chemically modified with a polymer chain is obtained by polymerizing a monomer having a radically polymerizable unsaturated bond using a radical polymerization initiating group introduced onto the surface of a titanate (1) through a chemical bond as the starting point.
