1,045,882. Film wind for cameras. KODAK Ltd. April 5, 1963 [April 7, 1962], No. 13570/63. Heading G2A. A film winding device for a camera is operated by a knob 1 screwed to a shaft 3 which slides in a member 4 terminating in dogs 4h which engage the film spool. Member 4 is formed with a vertical keyway 4a, in which slides a protuberance 3a on shaft 3. In the inoperative position, the knob and shaft are pressed into the camera body, and rotated, so that the protuberance 3a latches into a recess at the lower end of the keyway and is so retained there. To wind on the film, the knob is turned to disengage protuberance 3a from the recess, so that the shaft and its knob are extended from the camera body, under the action of a spring 5. In this position it can be easily grasped and operated. Member 4 can slide in a bearing 6 fixed to the camera, and is positioned by a spring 7 which latches into groove 4g on member 4. To insert or remove a spool, member 4 is pulled upwardly to release spring 7 from groove 4g.
