PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery in which positioning in assembly of a battery module is easy and manufacturing yield is improved, and a battery module. SOLUTION: The secondary battery 10 includes an electrode 16 having a positive electrode and a negative electrode and an outer package container 12 which houses the electrode 16 and an electrolyte solution 14. The outer package container 12 includes electrode terminals that include a positive electrode terminal 20a electrically connected to the positive electrode and a negative electrode terminal 20b electrically connected to the negative electrode. The electrode terminals project in the direction nearly crossing at right angles one end face of the outer package container 12 and has a terminal 20T in which the terminal end in the protrusion direction is thinner than the starting end.
