<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing an aluminum material for an electrolytic capacitor electrode having excellent etching properties achieved by more stabilizing a surface layer oxide film of the aluminum material to solve the problem in the surface treatment before final annealing in the conventional production of the above aluminum material. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method of producing the aluminum material for the electrolytic capacitor electrode includes removing the surface layer of the aluminum material subjected to cold rolling in an amount of 5-200 nm per side, bringing the material into contact with a phosphorus-containing acid aqueous solution, and then annealing it.
