摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of easily identifying asbestos from various materials in an environmental sample, which is generally considered to be difficult. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This asbestos identifying method using, as an index, laser-induced fluorescence amount per unit area comprises a first process of irradiating an analyte sample with a laser beam and generating laser-induced fluorescence specific to a material from the material in the analyte sample, a second process of photo-detecting the laser-induced fluorescence generated in a microscopical observation visual field through an optical low pass filter having a light transmission characteristic in an optional wavelength range existing in a wavelength range longer than irradiation laser wavelength, and image-measuring the fluorescence from particulates with a two-dimensional photodetector, a third process of determining the area for generating the laser-induced fluorescence of the particulates and integrated fluorescence amount generated from the area based on the measured fluorescent image of the particulates, and a fourth process of calculating the fluorescence amount per unit irradiation area based on the area where the particulates generate the fluorescence and the fluorescence amount generated from the area and comparing it with the fluorescence amount per unit are of asbestos previously determined on the same measuring condition.
