PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which operates on an inversion system, and also to provide a method for driving the same. SOLUTION: In the display device and method for driving the same, a control signal converting circuit delays a first gate control signal generated at a timing controller by a preset reference time to be converted into a second gate control signal, and supplies it to a gate driving circuit. The gate driving circuit outputs a plurality of gate signals in response to the second gate control signal one after another. Each gate signal rises at the point of time delayed by the reference time from beginning of a corresponding horizontal scanning period and falls just before the end of the corresponding horizontal scanning period. Then, since each pixel is not affected by distortion of a common voltage generated during a predetermined period from the beginning of the horizontal scanning period, cross-talk and Greenish phenomena are improved.
