PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To divide data based on data creation date and the like, and store the divided data in physical RGs, in a storage in which physical storage areas are sequentially allocated to virtual volumes according to access. SOLUTION: The storage device includes a storage constituting a plurality of physical RGs including a first physical RG, and a controller. The controller sequentially allocates a memory area of the first physical RG or a pool memory area including a plurality of first physical RGs to a first virtual volume based on a use order according to access to the first virtual volume. The controller receives a break request, and the controller allocates, according to the access to the first virtual volume after receiving the break request, the memory area of the first physical RG of the next use order or the pool memory area including the plurality of first physical RGs of the next use order to the first virtual volume.
