<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for controlling occurrence of a micro short circuit inside a unit battery layer in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a battery element including at least one unit battery layer. The unit battery layer includes a positive electrode active material layer which contains a positive electrode active material and is formed on a current collector, an electrolyte layer in which an electrolyte is supported by a separator, and a negative electrode active material layer which contains a negative electrode active material and is formed on a current collector, all laminated in this order. Then, in at least one unit battery layer, the maximum value (D<SB>max</SB>(+)) of particle size of the positive electrode active material and the maximum value (D<SB>max</SB>(-)) of the particle size of the negative electrode active material satisfy relations of a formula 1: D<SB>max</SB>≤α(T<SB>e</SB>+T<SB>s</SB>/2), α=0.95-0.0008N. In the formula, T<SB>e</SB>is the thickness of the active material layers, T<SB>s</SB>is the thickness of the separator, and N is the number of unit battery layers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
