Disclosed is an organic EL element material in which specific shortwave emitted light is visible, and which exhibits a high light-emission efficiency and has a long emission lifetime, as well as an organic EL element, a lighting device, and a display device using the material. The organic electroluminescent element has at least a light-emitting layer sandwiched between an anode and a cathode, and is characterized in that the light-emitting layer contains at least one compound that contains a partial structure represented by the general formula (A), (B), (C), or (D).
