PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To incorporate an existing private branch exchange and a housable terminal thereof into a nurse call system. SOLUTION: The nurse call system has a master housing a plurality of slaves having a call button, and a plurality of extension terminals to be called by the slaves. The nurse call system also has a first private branch exchange (PBX) that houses the plurality of extension terminals and appears on the market widely, and a second PBX interposed between the master and the first PBX. The first PBX applies an IF section for outside lines conforming to a BRI as an interface (IF) section for the second PBX. Also, the second PBX applies an IF section for extensions conforming to the BRI as an IF section for the first PBX. As an IF section for the master, an IF for extensions conforming to the BRI is applied for layers 1, 2. For a layer 3, an IF section to which a special IF is applied is used for transfer of a call setting signal due to the operation of the call button. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
