The device (1) has a housing (2) comprised of a transparent or semi-transparent region (3). A detection device (5) has a matrix (7) of organic photo-detectors (P11-P17) arranged on an inner side (6) of the region, where light is incident on each photo-detector and change of the light caused by operation of a user is converted into a preset signal (S). The matrix of photo-detectors is provided with a layer structure, and an illumination device e.g. LED or organic LED, illuminates the photo-detectors. The photo-detectors are formed as semi-transparent photo-detectors. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing an input device.
