Strip material 4 is perforated to form electrodes simultaneously from both sides by means such as rows of pins 3 carried by crank-actuated holders 5 and 6, the rows of pins being staggered so that the pins on each holder act as dies for the pins on the other holder and the pins of the two holders being so arranged that each perforation made from one side is equi-distant from four adjacent perforations, located at the corners of a square, made from the other side of the strip. Feed rollers 15, 16 are driven intermittently by a pawl-and-ratchet mechanism 11, 13 actuated by the eccentric 12 which reciprocates the pin holders. Burrs formed during the perforating are ground away; if only one side of the strip is to be ground and perforations of equal size ar e desired, the perforations from which the burr is to be ground are made initially smaller than those made from the other side of the strip. |
