<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively adjust a luminescent color without impairing device characteristics such as high efficiency and a long service life by reducing luminescence of a target wavelength range while maintaining a thin-type feature of the organic electroluminescent element. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element is formed with a plurality of luminescent layers 3 of different luminescent colors between two electrodes 1, 2. A light absorbing layer 5 absorbing a part of light of a desired wavelength range out of light emitted from the luminescent layers 3 is provided on the outside of the light takeout side electrode 1 or between the two electrodes 1, 2.
