PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the burnout of a superconducting coil at quenching while keeping low the breakdown voltage and rated voltage of the superconducting coil and a direct current power supply. SOLUTION: The high-temperature superconducting magnet system includes a plurality of subsystems. Each of the subsystems includes a plurality of high-temperature superconducting coils 10, 20 and direct current power supplys 11, 21. The high-temperature superconducting coils 10, 20 and the direct current power supplys 11, 21 are series connected in each of the subsystems. The high-temperature superconducting coils 10, 20 are disposed so as to form a strong electromagnetic coupling with the high-temperature superconducting coils belonging to the other subsystems 20, 10. When a quenching phenomenon occurs in the high-temperature superconducting coil 10 in the group (a), the current supplied by the direct current power supply 11 of the group (a) is decreased, and the current supplied by the direct current power supply 21 of the group (b) is increased so as to almost preserve the magnetic flux of the whole system before and after the occurrence of the quenching.
