PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance production efficiency by preventing damage to a workpiece caused by blowing back of a fusion gas for cutting the workpiece, and to attain reduction in cost by extending service life of a tool, in the tool used for horizontally holding and setting a steel sheet on the cutting table of a gas cutting machine. SOLUTION: The tool 10 includes workpiece receiving posts 11a, 11b having workpiece receiving faces 18a, 18b and stoppers 17a, 17b on the upper face and having in the lower end a recessed groove 13 for setting a steel sheet on a cutting table 6, and includes a cutting table cover 14 having in the lower end a recessed groove for setting the steel sheet on the cutting table. In a set state via these recessed grooves on the cutting table, both ends in the width direction of the steel sheet 7 to be cut are supported on the workpiece receiving faces while being positioned between the stoppers of the workpiece receiving posts. The steel sheet is cut in a place within the width range of a recess 12 which is formed, with a difference in height, between the workpiece receiving faces of the workpiece receiving posts and the upper face of the cutting table cover of the receiving faces in-between.
