PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color display device with a scattering type liquid crystal panel having a high transmission factor. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal color display device consists of: a liquid crystal display panel; light sources emitting light in at least two colors; and a driving circuit controlling the light source and the panel respectively. The light sources for respective colors are successively turned on, and upon a predetermined pixel of the display panel, voltage waveform corresponding to a lighting cycle is impressed.
