<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming a liquid-repellent film of a nozzle plate can improve printing quality by achieving a clean state of a discharge surface free from excessive liquid-repellent treatment agent, contaminants, etc. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A liquid-repellent film treatment method for carrying out liquid-repellent treatment for the discharge surface having the discharge opening of a nozzle of a nozzle plate 1 for a liquid discharge head having the nozzle 11 for discharging droplets. The method includes a liquid-repellent film forming step of forming a liquid-repellent film on the discharge surface by using a solution containing the liquid-repellent treatment agent and a rinse treatment step of carrying out the treatment of rinsing the liquid-repellent film, which is formed in the liquid-repellent film forming step, by a rinse solution. In the rinse treatment step, after the discharge surface on which the liquid-repellent film is formed is immersed in the rinse solution, the surface is exposed from the rinse solution, and draining of the rinse solution from the discharge surface is carried out in the vapor of the rinse solution.
