<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further properly charge a traveling battery, when an external power supply and the traveling battery are connected, in a state with a system start switch turned on. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a hybrid automobile 20, when the power switch 81 is turned on in a vehicle-stopped state, a traveling relay 56 is forcibly turned off (steps S130 to S170), on the condition that the connection of a connector 101 of a charger 100 and a vehicle-side connector 61 be detected by a connector sensor 62 so that the electrical connection of a traveling in-vehicle apparatus, such as, a hybrid ECU 70 and a low-voltage battery 55 is released. Also on the condition that charge start requirement from the charger 100 side be accepted, a charge relay 57 is turned on, after the traveling relay 56 is forcibly turned off (steps S180, S190).
