<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a periphery recognition assisting system that naturally urges a driver to view a periphery of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The periphery recognition assisting system includes an image processing unit 3 which receives a photographed image 21 of the periphery of the vehicle C acquired by an image pickup device 2 and performs image processing, a body position detecting means 5 of detecting the position of a body P present in the periphery of the vehicle C, a body acknowledging unit 6 which acknowledges information associated with the body P based upon the detection result of the body position detection means 5, a shape image generating unit 7 which generates a shape image S for imaging the presence of the body P which is acknowledged by the body acknowledging unit 6 and located outside a photographic range and in a specified area, and an image control unit 8 which performs composition processing on the photographed image 22 after the image processing and the shape image S and outputs the resulting image to a display unit 4 in the cabin of the vehicle C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
