The device has a plug (6) through which a strand (5) formed of conducting wires (4) passes, and a maintaining unit for maintaining the plug pressed against a partition (2). The maintaining unit comprises a circular backing block (20) made of rigid polyamide, and a rigid plate (24) fixed on the backing block by removable fixation units e.g. screws (25a, 25b). Another maintaining unit formed of beads maintains the conducting wires at a distance from one another in the plug, where the plug is made of silicone based elastomer. The beads are threaded around each conducting wire. An independent claim is also included for a method for sealing an orifice of a partition of an enclosure.
