<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for detecting polymorphism in codon 16 of a β2 adrenergic receptor gene prior to prescribing medications that would not be efficacious as a result of the polymorphism. <P>SOLUTION: A composition for amplifying and detecting a target sequence having the polymorphism in the codon 16 of the β2 adrenergic receptor gene is provided.
