<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a converter enabling a development tool for a host processor environment used in an application program including an extended specification. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The converter 21 converts an application program AP including a program of an extended specification into an application program APC of a standard specification. The converter 21 inputs the application AP, analyzes a character string included in the application AP to determine whether the character string is a character string of an extended specification with reference to a reserved word table RWT with the information of reserved words of an extended specification registered therein and a variable name-function name table PFT including the information of a data type of variable names and function names, converts the character string included in the application AP into a type name of the standard specification on the basis of the information of the type of data about the character string of the extended specification, and converts an expression including a function or variable defined by the extended specification into an expression described by the standard specification.
