摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of accurately correcting various shapes of smears. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A digital camera includes a solid state imaging element 5 having a pixel area 100 with multiple photoelectric conversion elements arranged therein, where a valid pixel area 101 to which light from a subject is made incident and an invalid pixel area where light is prevented from being made incident are included. The invalid pixel area is arranged in the vertically end part of the pixel area 100. The photoelectric conversion elements 51 for smear detection, which are the photoelectric conversion elements shielded from light, and the photoelectric conversion elements 51 for image generation, which are the photoelectric conversion elements without light shielding, are arranged in the valid pixel area 101. The digital camera also includes a smear correcting part 17a for performing processing (steps S1-S4) for correcting smear components included in imaging signals obtained from the photoelectric conversion elements 51 for image generation, based on the imaging signals obtained by the photoelectric conversion elements 51 which are arranged in the invalid pixel area and the imaging signals obtained by the photoelectric conversion elements 51 for smear detection.
