<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch panel device having excellent water resistance/hygienic characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: This touch panel device has: an operation part 54; a transmission part 51 having a transmission antenna transmitting an electric wave beam; a reception part 53 having a reception antenna receiving the electric wave beam emitted from the transmission antenna, and a diode detecting a current component flowing through the reception antenna; and a control part 53 deciding that a finger of a user contacts or approaches the operation part 54 based on a detection result (reception power) of the diode, and performing output to the outside.
