<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine which is prevented from rattling of a looper and improved in workability of thread passing into the looper. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sewing machine (1) include: an arm shaft (10) and a rotating hook shaft (20) set parallel with each other; a ring-shaped timing belt (44) spread between the arm shaft (10) and the rotating hook shaft (20); a needle bar (15) connected to the arm shaft (10) to swing linking to rotation of the arm shaft (10); and a looper shaft (23) connected to the rotating hook shaft (20) to swing linking to rotation of the rotating hook shaft (20). The sewing machine further includes two pulleys (51, 51) set across the belt outside the timing belt ring, and a tension device (50) having a seat (52) supporting the two pulleys (51, 51).
