Provided is a network system which can realize a packet relay transmission having a higher relay transmission efficiency than the conventional periodic intermittent transmission method (IPT) using a non-directivity antenna. A directivity antenna is employed for the IPT. Each of slave nodes waits for reception by a directivity antenna set for receiving a downlink packet when in a state waiting for a downlink packet. Furthermore, a downlink packet is handled as a polling control signal. Upon reception of a downlink packet, an uplink packet is transmitted so as to eliminate the problem of a hidden terminal or the carrier sense problem. Moreover, it is possible to form a more appropriate channel by using a routing protocol in which each of the nodes has a directivity changed by probability in a channel formation process.
