The invention concerns an improved method and device for producing a rolled snack, using an extruder which typically has a plurality of apertures, through which an extruded product exits the extruder. Each aperture is in the shape of a spiral. When the desired length of the stream or strand of extruded product exits via an aperture, the strand is cut at the base, thereby producing individual snack items which appear to have been rolled after the layering process.
