PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat a drain liquid in easy and simple operation by using a chemical agent which hardly causes pollution. SOLUTION: In the method for treating a drain liquid, a saponified liquid is prepared by feeding a saponifying liquid agent to the drain liquid while pumping up the drain liquid from a grease trap and, by stirring and mixing them, the saponified liquid is returned to the grease trap or discharged to the outside. The apparatus for treating the drain liquid includes a pumping-up pump of pumping up the drain liquid from the grease trap to one case and a saponifying agent feed passage of adding the saponifying agent to the drain liquid while pumping up it, and the saponified liquid is prepared by feeding the saponified liquid to the drain liquid while sucking the drain liquid from the grease pump by the pumping-up pump, and stirring and mixing the resulting material. A discharge pump of discharging the saponified liquid from the grease trap to the case may be installed. The apparatus for treating the drain liquid may be moved by mounting it on a moving vehicle.
