A high-accuracy blood pressure value deriving scheme hardly influenced by the individual variation of the subject is provided. A blood pressure measuring instrument comprises a cuff, a pressure control means for pressurizing/depressurizing air bags of the cuff, a pressure sensor for sensing the pressure in each air bag, pulse signal extracting means for extracting time-series data on a pulse signal superimposed on the pressure in the cuff sensed by the pressure sensor during the pressurization/depressurization of each air bag, and blood pressure value deriving means for deriving the systolic blood pressure value and/or the diastolic blood pressure value from the variation of the feature value of the pulse signal and the pressure in the cuff at the time of the variation of the feature value. The blood pressure value deriving means detects the maximum-slope point of each one-cycle pulse from a peak point to the bottom point appearing prior to the peak point among one-cycle pulse signals included in the time-series data on the pulse signal and derives the systolic blood pressure value/diastolic blood pressure value from the difference between the pulse amplitude value at the bottom point and the value of the tangent passing through the maximum-slope point at the time of the bottom point.
|
