PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractable writing utensil, with which the operating noise developing at the retreat of a pusher is made to have a little offensively sensing profound sound quality. SOLUTION: In the retractable writing utensil, the writing part 21a which is extended from the fore end of a barrel by forwardly slidingly operating the synthetic resin pusher 30 and retracted in the barrel by backwardly sliding the pusher 30 by means of the energizing force of an energizing member 51, and a bottomed cylindrical member 60 to be striningly contacted with the barrel with its opening part facing forwards and its bottom part facing backwards is provided so as to strikingly contact with the pusher 30 at its backward sliding at the rear end part of the barrel 10. The member 60 to be strikingly contacted, at least the portion strikingly contacting with the pusher 30 of which is made of metallic material, is immobile back and forth to the rear end part of the barrel and, at the same time, is fixed so as to tightly close the rear end part of the barrel.
