PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejector which can simultaneously carry out by a simple constitution alignment in a main scan direction between a plurality of liquid ejecting heads and corresponding caps when the maintenance/recovery action for the liquid ejecting heads is carried out, and to provide an image forming apparatus equipped with this. SOLUTION: In the ink ejector (liquid ejector) 1, when a head unit 11 moves towards a maintenance/recovery unit 13, pins (parts to be guided) 19a and 19b engage with guide grooves (guiding parts) 33a and 33b, thereby performing alignment between the head unit 11 and the maintenance/recovery unit 13 in a direction orthogonal to a movement direction of the head unit 11. A driving control part 22 decreases a movement speed of the head unit 11 before the pins 19a, 19b and the guide grooves 33a, 33b start the engagement with each other. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
