<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a membrane-electrode assembly, in which an excellent bondability between an electrolyte membrane and a catalyst layer is obtained, performance improvement of the membrane-electrode assembly and productivity improving are possible even if a polymer electrolyte membrane and a polymer electrolyte for an electrode are made from different materials. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a membrane-electrode assembly that includes an electrolyte membrane and a pair of electrodes pinching the electrolyte membrane and having a catalyst layer at a junction surface with the electrolyte membrane comprises: an electrolyte membrane plasma treatment step in which mixed gas containing alcohol is made to be plasma and radiated to at least one junction surface with the catalyst layer for the electrolyte membrane, and/or an catalyst layer plasma treatment step in which mixed gas containing alcohol is made to be plasma and radiated to the junction surface with the electrolyte membrane for the catalyst layer of at least one electrode; and a thermocompression bonding step which joins the electrolyte membrane and the catalyst layer by thermocompression bonding in a junction surface of the electrolyte membrane and/or a junction surface of the catalyst layer to which plasma treatment has been performed in the electrolyte membrane plasma treatment step and/or the catalyst layer plasma treatment step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
