An initial angle verifying method of an elevator system using a permanent magnet synchronous motor is provided to prevent power factor and efficiency of a synchronous motor from being degraded because the magnetic flux and torque component current are maintained at right angles. An initial angle verifying method of an elevator system using a permanent magnet synchronous motor comprises a step(200) which drives an elevator after a rotor location of a permanent magnet synchronous motor is perceived; a step(300) which calculates a d-axis voltage integral domain of a current controller in operation of the elevator; a step(400) which determines whether the calculation value error of the d-axis voltage integral domain of the current controller is less than 5% or not; and a step(410) which allows normal operation of elevator(500) when the calculation value error of the d-axis voltage integral domain of the current controller is less than 5% and controls the location of rotor when the calculation value error is greater than 5%.
