PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating agent containing violaxanthin as an active ingredient, and although it is known to be used as one component of a skin preparation for external use, it is also effective in various diseases by especially marked effects. SOLUTION: The anti-allergy agent, preventing or improving agent of hyperuricemia, anti-osteoporosis agent, anti-rheumatism agent, anti-depressant or anti-stress agent, an adiponectin production enhancer, cholesterol-reducing agent, antidiabetic agent, hypotensive agent and anti-tumor agent are provided by using the violaxanthin as the active ingredient.
