PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling melting snow pump operation for saving energy and amount of water used more than a conventional method. SOLUTION: This melting snow pumping device is provided with a pump 22 for pressurizing the water sucked from a water source and supplying the pressurized water into a water spray pipe 27, a falling snow sensor 41 counting the number of snowflakes per unit hour to obtain a value of detected snow fall strength, and a control part 30 for controlling operation hour of the pump 22 based on the values of detected snow fall strength. The control part 30 sets this melting snow pumping device to operation stop conditions when the value of detected snow fall strength is smaller than a first value K1 of snow fall strength fixed in advance, intermittent operation conditions when the value M of detected snow fall strength is larger than the first value K1 of snow fall strength and is smaller than a second value K2 of snow fall strength, and continuous operation conditions when the value M of detected snow fall strength is larger than the second value K2 of snow fall strength.
