PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate some disadvantages found in a conventional directional indicator canceling apparatus in which an operation of the directional indicator is canceled when a motorcycle temporarily occupies a linear motion during a certain directional conversion, resulting in that in order to continue its turning state, a motorcycle rider must turn on a switch again for the directional indicator and its conversion operation for the direction requires a troublesome action. SOLUTION: This method for canceling a directional indicator for a motorcycle is performed such that an advancing direction of the motorcycle is detected under utilization of a terrestrial magnetism sensor, a difference in direction before and after conversion of direction is measured when the direction is changed to set a turning angle, and an operation of the directional indicator is canceled under a condition that this turning angle becomes more than a set angle, this turning angle becomes constant and this state is continued for a predetermined time. Even if this turning angle becomes constant, the operation of the directional indicator is not canceled unless this state is continued for a specified period of time. If the method for canceling the directional indicator for a motorcycle is used, the operation of the directional indicator is not canceled unless a predetermined period of time elapses under that state even if the motorcycle temporarily becomes a straight forwarding state during one directional conversion, resulting in that the switching of the directional indicator is not required again to be turned on as found in the conventional one and the turned state is continued, so that a direction changing operation for the motorcycle becomes easy.
