<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus in which lubricant is supplied to a surface of an image carrier by a blade cleaning system, and which achieves stable cleaning over a long term without causing image deletion and fusion or the like by uniformly applying as small amount of lubricant as possible to the surface of the image carrier so that the surface of the image carrier may be covered with the lubricant. <P>SOLUTION: An abrasive having a cubic and/or rectangular parallelepiped particle shape and having ≥30 nm and ≤300 nm particle size of primary particles and the lubricant are supplied to the surface of the image carrier. When the supply amount of the abrasive is defined as A(μg/cm<SP>2</SP>), the supply amount of the lubricant is defined as B(μg/cm<SP>2</SP>), discharge current amount flowing from an electrifying member to the image carrier is defined as ΔIac(mA), and tapered abrasion loss of the image carrier is defined as T(mg), they satisfy relation of 0.5×ΔIac/T≤A+10B≤5×ΔIac/T and 1≤A/B≤20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
