PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing technique capable of speeding up image overlay processing at a low cost. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: an input unit which inputs a plurality pieces of image object data; an acquisition unit which acquires resolution information and area information; a generation unit which generates image data based on the resolution information and stores the image data in a memory unit; an extraction unit which extracts overlap area information and resolution information of each of image objects in the case that a target image object overlap other image objects; and a composition unit which reads out pixel data corresponding to a target pixel position, from the memory unit in accordance with the area information, and in the case that a plurality of pieces of pixel data in the target pixel position are located in an overlap area, converts one of the plurality of pieces of pixel data in accordance with higher resolution information extracted by the extraction unit and composites the converted piece of pixel data with the other pieces of pixel data and outputs the composition result.
