PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame detector capable of securing sufficient reliability when the flame detector having an optical sensor is heated by the heat in combustion of a burner in the combustion device such as a boiler, and to provide a combustion device using the same. SOLUTION: In this flame detector 40 comprising the optical sensor detecting the light emitted from the flame of the burner 12 controlled by a burner control portion 30, a control portion 50 outputting a control signal on the basis of a detection signal of the optical sensor, and a temperature detecting means disposed near the optical sensor, the control portion 50 is constituted to output a combustion stop signal of the burner 12 to the burner control portion 30, when the temperature detecting means reaches a prescribed temperature.
