Cardiac sound and pulse waves related to the cardiac sound which travels along an artery at one or more places of a living body are detected and the detected signals thereof are converted respectively to frequency signals. Then, an arteriosclerosis diagnostic device specifies the peak frequency of each frequency signal and judges an arteriosclerosis degree from the difference between the peak frequency of the cardiac sound and that of the pulse waves. In the case of a person without advanced arteriosclerosis, his/her artery is viscoelastic, so that the difference between the peak frequencies is large. However, in the case of a person with advanced arteriosclerosis, the difference between the peak frequencies is relatively small. Therefore, the arteriosclerosis degree can be judged by comparing the frequency signals with each other.
|
