PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open roof construction for an improved automobile. SOLUTION: This open roof construction is provided with a roof opening in a fixed roof part and a panel for opening and closing the roof opening. At the opposite sides of the panel, flexible members are provided for covering lateral gaps formed when the panel is moved toward an open position. The open roof construction is provided with two guide members extending along corresponding opposite sides of the roof opening to guide each part of the open roof construction.
