<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high-definition image compositing processing accompanied with little degradation of quality in the image compositing processing of compositing a read image of an original, as first image data with other image, as second image data. <P>SOLUTION: A scanner reads the image of the original as the first image data. A first image processing section carries out image processing with respect to the first image data read by the scanner. The first image processing section stores the image-processed first image data, as compressed code data in a memory. A second image processing section reads the first image data stored in the memory as code data. The second image processing section carries out image processing for printing on the first image data read from the memory. An image compositing section composites, through arithmetic processings, respective pixel data of the first image data on which image processing for printing has been carried out, with respective pixel data of the second image data.
